Dr. Dominic D'Agostino is a scientist with the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) in Ocala, Florida. Since 2014, he has supported IHMC efforts to optimize human physiological performance and resilience in different operational environments. He is a skilled grant writer, in addition to his performance human subject research and outreach event work. Dr. Dominic D'Agostino has also appeared on podcasts and delivered lectures about important IHMC topics.

Dr. Dominic D'Agostino balances his work at IHMC with his role as an associate professor at the University of South Florida in Tampa. For over two decades, he has engaged in the development and testing of metabolic-based therapies, such as ketogenic diets, exogenous ketogenic agents, and metabolic-based drugs used in the treatment of metabolic dysregulation, muscle wasting, and multiple types of cancer. He uses a wide range of tools in this role, from radio-telemetry to confocal microscopy.

Dr. D'Agostino completed his doctoral studies in neuroscience and physiology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey’s Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. His dissertation focused on neural control of autonomic activity, with an emphasis on respiratory neurobiology and hypoxic chemosensitivity in the rostral ventrolateral medulla. He studied biological sciences and nutrition science as an undergraduate at Rutgers University.
